-
Polish medtech start-up, established in 2022, works upon automatic detection of skin cancer based on specialized algorithms for automatic recognition of skin cancers via Epi-Luminescence Microscopy (ELM) images.
PRODUCT OFFERED
The system is dedicated to doctors who have contact with patients suffering from skin cancer. The system will be used in small and medium-sized doctor's offices, in screening tests to detect skin cancers at an early stage of development. The developed system is designed to support the doctor in the analysis of images, accelerate access to professional early diagnostics and eliminate the risk of incorrect image recognition by focusing on the methods of processing, analysis and classification of images of melanocytic skin lesions using 4 image evaluation strategies.
The company is looking for business partners and distributors of software for automatic detection of skin cancers. The most important priorities of the company are:
- development of products/services,
- partnership and cooperation with other entities,
- increasing the added value to the product/service,
- export of products/services.
The system is based on specialized algorithms for automatic recognition of skin cancers for Epi-Luminescence Microscopy (ELM) images. The system is a tool dedicated to doctors dealing with the diagnosis of melanocytic nevi (family doctors, dermatologists, surgeons and oncologists). It will be designed in such a way that it can be used in small and medium-sized doctor's offices, in screening tests for detecting cancers at an early stage of development.
The system responds to specific needs and problems related to diagnosis, e.g. skin melanoma. The problem of computer-aided analysis and classification of dermatoscopic images, although known, has not been solved in a way that allows the diagnosis process to be carried out without the need for constant supervision of a specialist doctor at every stage of analysis/classification. The solution developed by the company comprehensively solves the above problems, supports the doctor in image analysis, accelerates access to professional early diagnostics and eliminates the risk of incorrect image recognition by focusing on the methods of processing, analysis and classification of images of melanocytic skin lesions using 4 image evaluation strategies.
TECHNOLOGY USED
The whole system is built using "Micro AI", characterized by:
- original method / concept of using selected deep learning DL (Deep Learning) models in the form of "model per feature",
- the ability to detect most of the features, such as: the area of the mark, the structure of the surface differentiation, etc.,
- higher accuracy of detection / classification than for a single (general) AI/ML model analyzing the "whole picture",
- by indicating the location of the features detected in the image, it allows for clarification of the process of assessing the mole within a given melanocyte strategy.
COOPERATION ENVISAGED
The company is looking for business partners and distributors of software for automatic detection of skin cancers.
The company is also looking for a strategic partner (investor) who would be interested in implementing the system in its products (e.g. videodermatoscopes) or in its IT platform for servicing medical facilities.
The company is especially interested in establishing cooperation with partners from the following countries:
- countries of Central and Eastern Europe (Lithuania, Latvia, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania);
- Mediterranean countries (Italy, Greece, Croatia, Cyprus);
- Western Europe countries (Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Great Britain, Spain, Portugal);
- other countries (USA, China, India). - Advantages and Innovations
-
The company will provide a specialized computer system to support the analysis of images of melanocytic nevi of the multimodal type (ELM) of the skin and a repository containing images of various types of melanocytic nevi, along with dermatological descriptions. The newly developed algorithms will have a lower classification error compared to currently used methods.
The concept of the proposed solution assumes the use of the capabilities of the portable and precise device already owned by the doctor for the accurate diagnosis of melanocytic changes (without the need to purchase expensive equipment requiring dedicated space, while ensuring accurate diagnosis with the indication of specific parameters decisive for this diagnosis). There are currently no competing companies operating in this segment. - Stage of Development
