Electroporation is a s promising technology for cancer and cardiac arrhythmia treatment and an efficient DNA delivery method. Among the most promising gene electrotransfer applications in medicine are DNA vaccination and gene therapy. It works like this: When we expose cells to high voltage electric pulses, we increase the permeability of the cell membrane. So, molecules which otherwise cannot enter the membrane, now can penetrate in to cell interior. By using more pulses or increasing pulse voltage, we can also kill cells or ablate tissue. The device that generates electroporation pulses is called electroporator. And this technology develops electroporators. But the problem is that medical electroporators available on the market, use long monopolar pulses that are painful, but the company was the first to show that high-frequency bipolar pulses cause significantly less pain.Therefore their technology is both effective and more patient-friendly.
The company's first product is a laboratory high-frequency electroporator. This is the device that you need if you want to research electroporation in vivo or in vitro. The product is the only electroporator on the market that enables generation of high-frequency bipolar electroporation pulses on the entire scale of high-frequency electroporation. User interface was developed in the collaboration with the researches, meaning it is extremely flexible. The user can set up to 9 pulse parameters while at competitive laboratory electroporator you can mainly set up to 4. So, this device enables completely new research in the field of electroporation. Since the first prototype the devices has been used at the Institute of Oncology in Ljubljana and at the University of Ljubljana. Up to date, the research team has managed to demonstrate the useful value of it in as many as fifteen biomedical research studies. In the first phase, the company is marketing the laboratory electroporator because such certification is less demanding and, of course, cheaper. However, in the future, the company will also upgrade the device for use in veterinary medicine. In the case of acquiring a major investment, the company will also certify the device as a medical electroporator. - Advantages and Innovations
