General information
- Short Summary
- A French SME is designing sustainable wooden architectural shades for the exterior. By using an innovative construction technique based on reciprocal structures, the SME is looking for skills in parametric design and mastering of the Grasshopper plug-in of the Rhino 3D modelling software. A research cooperation agreement is sought with partner such as laboratory at university, architecture school, engineering school or design school in order to automate the design of reciprocal frames.
- Full Description
-
The French SME creates elegant and high-end wooden complex biomimetic reciprocal frames to embellish landscaped gardens and public places.
These structures come in self-supporting forms to revegetate places of conviviality in order to bring back biodiversity by allowing climbing flowering plants with pleasant scents to grow and shade the space.
In the context of current climate change, the French SME eco-designs reciprocal structures which allow the frugal use of renewable wood resources, designed with minimally processed wood and manufactured locally in short circuits.
In order to shorten the times of conception for wooden new products, the SME would like to beneficiate from expertise in knowledge of grasshopper plug-in functions to optimise the use of Rhino 3D as computer-graphics and computer-aided design application software to faster modelling.
The partner should participate in the development of Grasshopper (GH) programs for automated design of reciprocal structures:
Development of GH programs for automated design of reciprocal structures:
1. Reciprocal mesh on NURBS or any other shape
2. Automatic structure edge design
-Incomplete mesh
-Reciprocal strapping
3. Parameterization of the fixing supports (posts or other)
4. Automatic determination of privileges (braces, struts…)
A partner interested in applying its expertise of the Grasshopper plug-in is sought to cooperate with the French SME within the framework of a research cooperation agreement. - Advantages and Innovations
- Participation in a challenge of adaptation to climate change, through the accelerated marketing of vegetated wooden structures.
- Technical Specification or Expertise Sought
- The partner must be an expert and familiar with Grasshopper, the Rhino software parametric design plug-in
- Sustainable Development Goals
- Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
- Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being
- Goal 17: Partnerships to achieve the Goal
- Goal 15: Life on Land
