General information
- Short Summary
- A Ukrainian University offers a number of compounds that have antimicrobial properties and can be used as antiseptics against causative agents of infections with a high level of resistance to antibiotics in the treatment of skin-deep wounds. The University is looking for investors and partners to conduct joint research and establish the production of the drugs. The preferred form of cooperation is a research and development cooperation agreement or an investment agreement.
- Full Description
- Treatment of skin-deep wounds becomes more difficult due to the phenomenon of antibiotic resistance, which makes microbes insensitive to antimicrobials. The number of antibiotic-resistant strains of microorganisms is permanently increasing. Diseases caused by resistant microbes are more difficult to treat because they require higher doses of drugs that cause side effects. Certain infectious diseases cannot be cured at all. One of the ways to overcome antibiotic resistance is the synthesis of new compounds with antimicrobial properties. Such compounds were synthesized at the Ukrainian University. Those are metal complexes containing inorganic and organic components. The inorganic component includes biometals (copper, zinc, cobalt, manganese) ions. The organic component contains a Schiff base. The compounds are soluble in water or dimethyl sulfoxide. Their antimicrobial properties are manifested at a concentration of 78-156 μg/ml. The University is looking for investors and partners in the fields related to the development, production and supply of antiseptic drugs for joint research under a research and development cooperation agreement and implementation of the drug production technology or organization of their supply under an investment agreement.
