General information
- Short Summary
- The prevalence of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) is a significant public health issue. Research is challenging because of the nature of the condition, hence it is typically conducted retrospectively in nations without registries. The ideal data source is evolving to be OHCA registrations. Slovenia and many other nations do not yet have such registers. Our solution is a strong and flexible OHCA data gathering system that uses global standards for variables gathered and data storage.
- Full Description
- In less than six months, the project built its MVP and successfully tested it in the field by carrying out the Slovenian portion of the EuReCa 3 trial. We have implemented different input points, a system for data quality assurance, a data insight dashboard, and more in this short amount of time. With the addition of even more clinical route input points, cutting-edge data collection methods, partnerships with medical device manufacturers, and the development of the openEHR database, we want to enhance all of this. We also wish to do research on OHCA in Slovenia and work with other international institutes and organisations in addition to the technical aspects. Our aim is to provide high-quality data sets and continuously gather data to fuel innovation and progress.
- Advantages and Innovations
- For the first time in Slovenia, we have connected more than 50% of EMS to a central data collection system. We have added the Utstein template to the Slovenian system, which allows us to make comparisons with other nations. We have produced high-quality user experiences (UX), demonstrating that this is possible in our industry and laying the groundwork for innovative health IT solutions. We allow the gathering of QOL data, which enables HTA and system evaluation. We lay the groundwork for data-driven reforms to policy. We are empowering EMS to advance and providing them with a solid QA framework.
