General information

Short Summary
The Czech SMES has developed a small electric vehicle of category L6 / L7 for the city transportation. The key design advantage is possibility to manufacture the cars in micro-factories close to consumer markets. The SME is looking for partners for an investment agreement.
Full Description
A Czech SME together with a university partner has developed an attractive small electric vehicle category L6 / L7 for urban transport. The vehicles are designed to be manufactured in micro-factories close to consumer markets in order to optimise logistics & increase the efficiency of supply chains. The SME is convinced that such small electric vehicles are the optimal solution for individual urban transport. The company offers an opportunity to participate in this growing market as sales of internal combustion vehicles decline. The development of the present model took about 4 years and the prototype is ready (Technology Readiness Level 6 to 7), but still needs further testing and improvement to complete the homologation process. SME anticipates that production will be possible within a year.

The basic version of the vehicle is equipped with only the elements necessary for driving and safety. To make production simple and cheap, the body is made of a light, strong and cheap thermoplastic, and a light, self-supporting chassis is made of specially designed aluminium profiles. The atypical diagonal arrangement of the seats means that the length of the vehicle is only 2,500 mm, enabling it to be parked at right angles to the kerb, as required by hauliers and delivery services. The small electric vehicle (hatchback) for 2 people has a contemporary body with an unusually large boot (430 litres) for such a small vehicle. The van derived from this version has a 900-litre boot.

After removing the load compartment, it is possible to connect a unique trailer equipped with its own batteries, 2 motors and photovoltaic panels to recharge the batteries when the trailer is not in use and the solo vehicle travels around the area. An adjustable range of 80 - 160 km with an 8 or 16 kWh battery is sufficient, as the vehicle is intended for urban use only.
The running costs of the small electric vehicles are very low. The average consumption of an L6 vehicle is 50Wh/km, which at the price of electricity 0.4 EUR/kWh makes 2 EUR/100km.
As the vehicle is designed for easy production (minimum parts, vacuum pressing, easy assembly....), it is possible to make production feasible in small production units that can be scaled up later. To be profitable in this business, you do not need to sell 10,000 or 100,000 vehicles, just a few hundred. Market demand predicts stable growth.

The main machinery of the production line (whose capacity can be adjusted) are moulds, large size vacuum presses, 5-axis CNC edge trimming machines, jigs for gluing and foaming of external and internal parts, foaming machines, automatic welding machines, assembly bench and tools.
The final price is calculated based on the discussion and specification of the technology.

A licensee gets the rights to produce the vehicles according to the design and know-how based on the investment agreement sought, can make the modifications, developments and improvements and sell them all over the world (unless otherwise stipulated).
Advantages and Innovations
- small size = easy to manoeuvre in city centres
- estimated low operating costs
- easy to park in already congested city centres
- can be driven by drivers aged 15 and over
- three different variants: for individual transport (hatchback), for delivery services (van) and as a solar trailer
