General information

Short Summary
Through a TRL9 integrated platform and IoT devices, an Italian company helps energy companies and municipalities to outstandingly level up the energy & operational efficiency of street lighting and buildings and to provide other smart city services. This solution is offered to utilities and municipalities within Commercial agreement with technical assistance. The company is looking for investment agreements to scale up at the national level and to expand its presence internationally.
Full Description
The company makes street lighting and buildings more sustainable and efficient, fully unlocking the potential of such infrastructures.
The company has created an IoT solution to boost the energy and operational performance and efficiency of street lighting. Its solution is made of a TRL9 integrated platform and two patented devices. Energy companies and municipalities now can:
● save energy up to 50%
● reduce substantially on site maintenance up to 70% and operative costs up to 75%
● integrate smart city services
● highly impact on environmental and social sustainability of cities.
The platform is made of three modules: Design, Management & Maintenance, Remote Control.
Design enables the quick creation of a digital map with every element of the lighting infrastructures, including features to complete tasks automatically.
Management & Maintenance simplifies exactly such operations of management and maintenance, including the reporting of interventions made and planned. Access is given to multiple users (energy company, maintenance technicians, municipality).
Remote Control enables the easy and quick monitoring & regulation of the lampposts, reducing consumptions and disservices; a new patented communication system, between the electrical panel and the lamps, makes communication reliable even over long distances, halving the cost of devices. More, Blockchain certifies consumption.
For what concerns building automation (residential, commercial and public buildings), an IoT system (app+device) allows users to remotely monitor and automatize the heating, cooling, lights, quality of air, etc., through wireless technologies. Its installation is easy and non-invasive.
The company provides a positive impact on the environment, as drastically reduces CO2 emissions: 6.3 tons of CO2/1,000 inhabitants for lighting, and 1.2 tons CO2/100 sq.m. for buildings.
The company envisions the platform as an urban digital twin, with multi-faceted goals and benefits. On the one hand, it provides utilities with a wider range of smart city offers, making the city even smarter; on the other, makes city managers access big data to gather better insights and implement data driven urban policies. Indeed, the company is implementing other smart city services on air quality monitoring (request for IPRs ongoing), smart parking&traffic analysis, digital engagement of citizens; the time to market is expected for late 2023.
Anyway the platform has an open technology and therefore third-party solutions can be added as well.
The company is looking for commercial agreements with technical assistance and investors to consolidate its national market share and expand its European global presence.
Advantages and Innovations
The platform has a TRL 9 and is based on a cloud and edge technology, accessible via web and mobile app (iOS and Android).
The innovation focuses on the digital integration, in a single system, of each operation related to the above infrastructures, as management and automatization of maintenance, monitoring, reporting, remote control, visualization and use of data. Such wider integration of processes strengthens outstanding optimization - eliminating costs and inefficiencies - in terms of training of human resources/users, time to manage the infrastructure and accuracy of data.
Energy companies and municipalities become more competitive and profitable, whereas residents experience more comfortable indoor environments, eliminating waste.
Other considerable advantages are:
• customizability and flexibility of the platform, applicable on a wider size of projects, from towns to megacities
• half the time to carry out maintenance, with prompt on-site interventions when needed
• delivery of top quality projects in shorter times
• simplified and less costly devices
• openness of technology, compatible with third-party products and systems
• Improved features and automatization through cross-data analysis from various sources and sensors
• compliance with Enea’s Pell (Public Energy Living Lab) platform. Enea is the Italian Agency for new technologies, energy and economic sustainable development, which has developed a platform to collect, manage and elaborate data on Italian public lighting. This represents another competitive advantage for the company on public tenders.
