Spreading mobile security solutions

Jonas Borgh, founder of MYMobile Security

Enterprise Europe Network helps Spanish tech business accelerate its international expansion.

Swedish computer scientist and entrepreneur Jonas Borgh founded his cybersecurity startup MYMobile Security in Barcelona in 2012.

A long–standing mobile technology enthusiast, Jonas developed security solutions like malware protection, the app K–Chiing that secures communications when on Wifi and provides more surfing data when traveling, and MYFamily Protection that allows parents to monitor children’s mobile behaviour.

In just four years he built up an 18-strong team and sells mainly through partners such as mobile and insurance companies, banks and airlines but also to consumer channels in order to reach a wider audience.

Growth ambitions

Having built up a strong business in Spain, Jonas was keen to find contacts to help him expand elsewhere in Europe. He got in touch with the Barcelona branch of the Enterprise Europe Network at the Catalonia Trade and Investment agency known by its Spanish acronym, ACCIÓ.

After learning more about the company and its growth ambitions, Network adviser Clara Viladomiu invited Jonas to a business matchmaking event organized by the Enterprise Europe Network at the annual Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

To ensure a successful experience, Clara ensured that Jonas and his company were well profiled in advance of the event. Together they scoped out the best prospects–three of whom the client chose to meet.

Within three months, two of those encounters led to partnerships with Swedish firms. Gavefalk & Partners AB is helping Jonas with business development in Sweden and Eastern Europe, and MaxErixon Consulting AB is guiding the company's expansion into the Nordic countries and Germany.

"In just two years we have gained three new clients and over EUR 2 million in extra revenue" said Jonas.

"The Enterprise Europe Network offers you a lot of tools and help," he added. "If you are clear on what you want and where you want to go, then the Network is a great organisation to have on your side."
