A spin-off of an Italian University offers strategies that support organizational competences and business paradigms, in order to meet the demand of the current business environment, characterized by frequent and unpredictable changes. The knowledge creation represents the core competence of any organization, becoming essential for the business evolution in the long run, and the technologies are not able to ensure innovation and creativity, unless coupled with the capacity of creating new knowledge through an ongoing process of learning.
Responding to this need, the Italian spin-off offers a synergic combination of knowledge management strategies and information technologies for helping in:
• managing business environments
• shortening product development cycles
• capitalizing increased knowledge in the development of products and services
• solving hard problems in a number of high-value application domains.

The Italian company has developed a database system, based on disjunctive logic programming, that offers front-ends to several advanced knowledge representation and reasoning formalisms. It supports a language based on a logical formalisms with a very high expressive power so that programs are able to represent relevant practical problems in presence of incomplete or contradictory knowledge.
The Italian company is also offering a comprehensive suite of this system-based solutions aimed at knowledge intensive applications. Indeed, other than being packaged as a stand-alone solution, the system constitutes the technological basis for providing (or integrating into a) larger solution to enable organizations solving knowledge-based business problems.
The Italian company is looking for an industrial partner interested in using the system or in adapting the system to its own need under a license agreement. The offer is extended to the suite of this system-based solutions.
Moreover, the company provides consultancy and support for the use of the system in an industrial context. In this case, the cooperation will be carried out under a commercial agreement with technical assistance.

The proprietary Logic-based AI system is based on declarative programming, a paradigm that allows to deal with problem solving without the need for explicitly writing algorithms, thus granting significant competitive advantages with respect to standard approaches. Solving a problem amounts to write a logic program that specifies how the solutions should look like, rather than how they are supposed to be computed; such declarative specification is also already executable, as the logic program is processed by the system.

• Simplify the specification of problems (and desiderata), as the declarative specification of a problem relies on formal theoretical properties, yet being already executable: this reduces risks of errors and limits time-wasting refinements in specifications.

• Fast prototyping, easy maintenance:
- accelerates solutions delivery
- text-based, “plug and play” logic rules and constraints: quick to modify, upgrade, maintain
- no need for re-builds a project if tuning is required.

• Full integrability with solution based on “traditional” programming (e.g., JAVA):
- embed declarative modules in larger procedural implementations

• Effective to many enterprise domains:
- reasoning, also Ontology-Based, possibly on top of Data Mining;
