Events to look out for

[Webinar] What are the Economic Partnership Agreement opportunities in Japan for EU protected products? – 7 May 2019. The webinar is hosted by the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation and targets small European businesses seeking to export products falling under “geographical indications” to Japan.

EU-Ethiopia Business forum 2019 – 14-15 May, Brussels (BE). During this high-level business forum participants will hear practical information about doing business in Ethiopia and interact with top-officials from the Ethiopian Investment Commission and with other high-ranking officials from Ethiopia.

Fourth Revitalising Retail workshop – 16 May, Bucharest (RO). Hosted by the European Commission, this event will provide participants with an opportunity to better understand how to help revitalise and modernise the small retail sector at regional and local level.

Funds available

European Investment Fund (EIF) and Catalonian Institute of Finance reach funding agreement. The EIF and the Catalonian Institute of Finance (Institut Catalá de Finances, ICF) have signed an agreement to improve access to funding by providing €15 million to businesses located in Catalonia.

European Commission launches a public consultation on the marketing of financial services in the EU. Last week, the European Commission launched an online public consultation on EU rules on Distance Marketing of Financial Services. The public consultation is part of a bigger assessment to check whether the rules on distance marketing of financial services are still fit for purpose and meet the users' needs and expectations.

Apply for the Training at Work Award 2019! This award by the European Commission aims to identify micro, small or medium companies which invest in upskilling and reskilling of their employees.

INNOWIDE: empowering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to go global. A new international project INNOWIDE will launch two calls for proposals that will focus on supporting innovative European SMEs and start-ups in targeting markets of developing countries, large emerging economies (Brazil, Russia, India, China, Mexico etc.) and developed countries. The first call for applications is now open until 31 May. Interested Market Experts can also submit their profiles here
