Events to look out for

Webinar: IP Commercialisation and Licensing – 7 February, 10:30 CET. Organised by the European IPR Helpdesk, this webinar will provide an overview of key aspects in the field of intellectual property licensing, including negotiation tips and legal traps.

European Patent Office webinar: Basics of patent searching – 14 February, 10:30 CET. This webinar will familiarise participants with the basic functions of Espacenet. It will include a comprehensive lecture and practical examples to enable participants to carry out simple searches independently.

Funding available

EUR 30 million commitment from the EU for micro-enterprises in Ireland over the next 5 years. The European Investment Fund (EIF) has signed a second agreement with Microfinance Ireland (MFI) to support 2,100 micro-entrepreneurs under the European Commission's EU Programme for Employment and Social Innovation following the first one signed in 2015. This will enable MFI to provide an additional EUR 30 million in loans to micro-borrowers including migrants and entrepreneurs over the next five years in Ireland.

EU policies for better business

Trade Defence: European Commission imposes measures on cast iron products from China. The European Commission imposed definitive anti-dumping duties on iron castings from China. The measures range from 15.5% to 38.1%. The Commission has 53 measures now in place on steel and iron products, including 27 on products coming from China. The investigation was initiated in December 2016 following a complaint from seven EU producers concerning products from China and India. The investigation found there to be no dumping in the case of India.
