
Events to look out for
Circular economy mission to Mexico – 24-25 April, Mexico City. The European Commission is taking EU-based companies driven by circular economy to Mexico. Particular targeted sectors are waste management (including e-waste), air pollution, water and chemicals. Apply to participate by 8 March.
Funds available
First agreement for creative and cultural business loans in Denmark. The European Investment Fund (EIF) and Vaekstfonden signed a new agreement under the Investment Plan for Europe. The pilot programme aims to generate DKK 300 million (c. EUR 40 million) in new financing for almost 80 small and medium-sized businesses in the cultural and creative sectors in Denmark.
EUR 25 million of EU financing for Belgian social-entrepreneurs. The European Investment Fund (EIF) and Credal and Hefboom have signed two social entrepreneurship guarantee agreements in Belgium. These new guarantee agreements allow Credal and Hefboom to provide loans to 530 start-ups and developing social enterprises across Belgium over the next 5 years.
EU policies for better business
Consumer Policy: new award rewards businesses that go the extra mile to protect consumers. The European Commission launched a new Product Safety Award for businesses that are industry leaders in making sure their products and services are safer for consumers. There are two categories for 2019: safety of products sold online and safety of childcare products.
