Description
The business trip leads to Zagreb/Croatia, Sarajevo/Bosnia and Herzegovina and Belgrade/Serbia and was designed as a continuation of the "Western Balkans Country Business Day" in November 2022. The trip is open to all sectors, but the target countries promise special points of contact for the metal processing, IT & software, renewable energy, digitalisation and agricultural and food industries.
Country briefings, b2b events and company visits are organised at each location on the tour.
The Balkan region offers a wide range of opportunities and access for Thuringian companies. Topics such as the search for suppliers, customers or cooperation partners, but also potentials for nearshoring and the topic of skilled workers will be addressed on the trip.
The Western Balkan countries themselves are facing major projects in the areas of infrastructure and green energy, as well as the development of a common regional market to break down disruptive trade barriers. Croatia, the only country already part of the EU, gives an insight into the direction the Balkan countries could take in the future.
Thuringia has always been well known as an attractive economic and technological center for its expertise in the fields of automotive and mechanical engineering, as well optics/optoelectronics and life science. In addition, the food and plastics industries are also of great importance. The economy of the Free State embraces other growth sectors, for example renewable energy, green technology, measurement and control technology or logistics.Typical characteristics of the local economic structure are small and medium-sized businesses
The tour starts on 5 June 2023 in Zagreb, goes to Sarajevo and the region on 6 and 7 June and ends on 8 June in Belgrade. It is organised in cooperation with regional stakeholders in Thuringia and in the target countries.
The Thuringian companies will be accompanied by representatives of the State Development Corporation of Thuringia and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
